thaipusam: walking the mile of faith

03Feb07

location: batu caves, selangor

I never cease to be fascinated by the human demonstration of faith, and the miracles that appear to encapsulate festivals such as Thaipusam. Even at midnight, the streams of pilgrims seem endless. The eve of the day of the faithful strikes its final hours. The chants for the strength of the “vel” (Lord Muruga’s enchanted spear) lingers throughout the night and into the next morning.
